Despite the increased demand for military relevant research, little is known about the recent experiences of service members as research participants or about their research participation decisions.\n\nThe study aims are to: 1). Describe the experiences of military service members who have participated in health research; 2). Explore the reasons military service members decide for or against participation in health research; and 3). Identify effective strategies for promoting military service members' participation in research.\n\nDemographic data will be collected from up to 50 service members who have participated in health research or who have previously declined research participation.\n\nUp to 40 service members will participate in individual, in-depth, semi-structured interviews in person or via telephone."}, 'eligibilityModule': {'sex': 'ALL', 'stdAges': ['ADULT', 'OLDER_ADULT'], 'maximumAge': '80 Years', 'minimumAge': '18 Years', 'samplingMethod': 'NON_PROBABILITY_SAMPLE', 'studyPopulation': 'Current United States military service members (active duty, reserve, or guard) of any service branch who have participated in military or civilian health care research within the past three years or who have declined research participation.', 'healthyVolunteers': True, 'eligibilityCriteria': 'Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* current US military member of any branch of service at time of screening\n* experience as a research participant and/or previously declined participation in at least one health research study within the past three years\n* age 18-80 years\n* willing to participate in this study\n* willing to be interviewed\n* consents to participate\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* people who do not meet inclusion criteria\n* unable to verbally communicate in English'}, 'identificationModule': {'nctId': 'NCT02518893', 'briefTitle': 'Health Research Participation: Experiences and Decisions of Military Members', 'organization': {'class': 'OTHER', 'fullName': 'University of Washington'}, 'officialTitle': 'Health Research Participation: Experiences and Decisions of Military Members', 'orgStudyIdInfo': {'id': '48058'}, 'secondaryIdInfos': [{'id': 'HU0001-14-1-TS07 (N14-P10)', 'type': 'OTHER_GRANT', 'domain': 'TriService Nursing Research Program'}, {'id': 'IRB #215029', 'type': 'OTHER', 'domain': 'Madigan Army Medical Center'}]}, 'armsInterventionsModule': {'interventions': [{'name': 'Demographic Data', 'type': 'OTHER', 'description': 'Demographic data will be collected from up to 50 service members who have participated in health research or who have previously declined research participation.'}, {'name': 'Interview', 'type': 'OTHER', 'description': 'Up to 40 service members will participate in individual, in-depth, semi-structured interviews in person or via telephone.'}]}, 'contactsLocationsModule': {'locations': [{'zip': '98431', 'city': 'Tacoma', 'state': 'Washington', 'status': 'RECRUITING', 'country': 'United States', 'contacts': [{'name': 'Mary S McCarthy, PhD', 'role': 'CONTACT'}, {'name': 'Mary S McCarthy, PhD', 'role': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR'}], 'facility': 'Madigan Army Medical Center', 'geoPoint': {'lat': 47.25288, 'lon': -122.44429}}], 'centralContacts': [{'name': 'Wendy A Cook, PhD, MA, RN', 'role': 'CONTACT', 'email': 'wacook@uw.edu', 'phone': '360-626-3541'}], 'overallOfficials': [{'name': 'Wendy A Cook, PhD, MA, RN', 'role': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR', 'affiliation': 'University of Washington'}]}, 'sponsorCollaboratorsModule': {'leadSponsor': {'name': 'University of Washington', 'class': 'OTHER'}, 'collaborators': [{'name': 'TriService Nursing Research Program', 'class': 'OTHER'}, {'name': 'Madigan Army Medical Center', 'class': 'FED'}, {'name': 'United States Naval Medical Center, San Diego', 'class': 'FED'}], 'responsibleParty': {'type': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR', 'investigatorTitle': 'PhD, School of Nursing', 'investigatorFullName': 'Wendy Cook', 'investigatorAffiliation': 'University of Washington'}}}}
