Trans-dihydrodiol dehydrogenase (DD; EC 1.3.1.20) catalyzes the NADP(+)-linked oxidation of trans-dihydrodiols of aromatic hydrocarbons to the corresponding catechols. DD exists in mammalian tissues in monomeric and dimeric forms with similar but distinct enzymatic properties.
