The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the src family kinases. It is a cytoplasmic protein which is preferentially expressed in T-lymphocytes where it interacts with the protein-tyrosine kinase p59fyn. The presence of a PH domain and a SH3 domain suggests that this encoded protein is capable of interacting with several other intracellular proteins.
