Gene:
mediator of RNA polymerase II transcription, subunit 28 homolog (yeast)
Description:
Component of the mediator complex, a complex that can either repress or activate transcription. Mediator complexes are essential for basal and regulated expression of nearly all RNA polymerase II-dependent genes. They may act as a bridge, conveying regulatory information from enhancers and other control elements to the promoter. May be part of a complex containing NF2/Merlin that participates in cellular signaling to the actin cytoskeleton downstream of tyrosine kinase signaling pathways.
