Description:
The protein encoded by this gene is thought to play a role in coupling hepatocyte growth factor receptor signaling to the p70 S6 protein kinase pathway. It also interacts with the peptidyl prolyl isomerase FK506-binding protein 59 (FKBP59), FKBPP52 and FKBP12. FKBPs belong to the large family of immunophilins that bind the macrolide immunosuppressant drugs FK506 and rapamycin. This gene has two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms. There is evidence for another polyadenylation site further downstream for this gene.
