Work disability is a common consequence of these pains. Lowering the physical exposure through ergonomic intervention may be a strategy to reduce the workload. An alternative strategy could be to increase the physical capacity through strength training of the shoulder-, arm- and hand-muscles. This study investigates the effect of two contrasting interventions, i.e. load reduction (ergonomic intervention) versus training of physical capacity (strength training) on pain and work disability in slaughterhouse workers.\n\nThe main hypothesis is that strength training intervention for 10 weeks compared with ergonomic intervention results in reduced pain of the shoulder, arm and hand.'}, 'eligibilityModule': {'sex': 'ALL', 'stdAges': ['ADULT', 'OLDER_ADULT'], 'maximumAge': '67 Years', 'minimumAge': '18 Years', 'healthyVolunteers': True, 'eligibilityCriteria': 'Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Slaughterhouse worker\n* the pain should have lasted at least 3 months\n* pain intensity during the last three months of \\>= 3 (scale 0-10) in the shoulder, elbow or hand\n* the pain should be frequent (at least 3 days per week)\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* life threatening disease\n* pregnancy'}, 'identificationModule': {'nctId': 'NCT01671267', 'acronym': 'IRMA', 'briefTitle': 'Implementation of Physical Exercise at the Workplace (IRMA06) - Slaughterhouse Workers', 'organization': {'class': 'OTHER_GOV', 'fullName': 'National Research Centre for the Working Environment, Denmark'}, 'officialTitle': 'Implementation of Physical Exercise at the Workplace (IRMA06) - Slaughterhouse Workers', 'orgStudyIdInfo': {'id': 'IRMA06'}}, 'armsInterventionsModule': {'armGroups': [{'type': 'EXPERIMENTAL', 'label': 'Strength training', 'description': 'Strength training of the shoulder, arm and hand muscles for 3 x 10 minutes a week.', 'interventionNames': ['Behavioral: Strength training']}, {'type': 'ACTIVE_COMPARATOR', 'label': 'Ergonomic', 'description': 'Receives counseling on workstation adjustment and optimal use of the work tools.', 'interventionNames': ['Behavioral: Ergonomic']}], 'interventions': [{'name': 'Strength training', 'type': 'BEHAVIORAL', 'armGroupLabels': ['Strength training']}, {'name': 'Ergonomic', 'type': 'BEHAVIORAL', 'armGroupLabels': ['Ergonomic']}]}, 'contactsLocationsModule': {'locations': [{'zip': '2100', 'city': 'Copenhagen', 'country': 'Denmark', 'facility': 'National Research Centre for the Working Environment', 'geoPoint': {'lat': 55.67594, 'lon': 12.56553}}], 'overallOfficials': [{'name': 'Lars L Andersen, PhD', 'role': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR', 'affiliation': 'National Research Centre for the Working Environment, Denmark'}]}, 'sponsorCollaboratorsModule': {'leadSponsor': {'name': 'National Research Centre for the Working Environment, Denmark', 'class': 'OTHER_GOV'}, 'responsibleParty': {'type': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR', 'investigatorTitle': 'Professor, PhD', 'investigatorFullName': 'Lars L.
