Contractures cause the envelope of the knee (called the capsule) to stiffen and become rigid so the patient can no longer move their knee the way they used to. After stretching and other exercises, only a surgery can try and divide or remove the contracture. The main purpose of this research is to study the cause of the contracture and specifically if certain people are predisposed to contractures.'}, 'eligibilityModule': {'sex': 'ALL', 'stdAges': ['ADULT', 'OLDER_ADULT'], 'minimumAge': '18 Years', 'samplingMethod': 'NON_PROBABILITY_SAMPLE', 'studyPopulation': 'joint contractures following knee surgery', 'healthyVolunteers': False, 'eligibilityCriteria': 'Inclusion Criteria:\n\n-knee contractures post arthroplasty scheduled for arthrotomy with debridement of capsular tissue Controls will be patients scheduled for arthrotomy with debridement of capsular tissue for the other reasons(primary knee arthroplasty, ORIF of the knee secondary to trauma, ACL repair, amputation, elective joint arthroplasty with capsuloplasty etc.)\n\nExclusion:\n\n* transmissible disease (HIV, Hep B,C)\n* confirmed or suspected neoplasia\n* suspected infection'}, 'identificationModule': {'nctId': 'NCT00664651', 'briefTitle': 'Joint Stiffness Following Knee Replacement Surgery', 'organization': {'class': 'OTHER', 'fullName': 'Ottawa Hospital Research Institute'}, 'officialTitle': 'Capsular Changes in Joint Contractures Post-Knee Arthroplasty:A Case-Control Study', 'orgStudyIdInfo': {'id': '2006541'}}, 'contactsLocationsModule': {'locations': [{'zip': 'K1Y 4E9', 'city': 'Ottawa', 'state': 'Ontario', 'country': 'Canada', 'facility': 'Ottawa Hospital Research Institute', 'geoPoint': {'lat': 45.41117, 'lon': -75.69812}}], 'overallOfficials': [{'name': 'Guy Trudel, MD,MSc,FRCPC', 'role': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR', 'affiliation': 'OHRI / The Ottawa Hospital'}]}, 'sponsorCollaboratorsModule': {'leadSponsor': {'name': 'Ottawa Hospital Research Institute', 'class': 'OTHER'}, 'responsibleParty': {'type': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR', 'investigatorTitle': 'Researcher', 'investigatorFullName': 'Dr. Guy Trudel', 'investigatorAffiliation': 'Ottawa Hospital Research Institute'}}}}
