The proposed study will provide information on the metabolic stress from varying body weight overlaid by the additional metabolic stress of a test-meal challenge, in this case being delivered in the form of an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) and oral lipid tolerance test (OLTT), standard metabolic challenges in post-prandial research. Previous studies assessing metabolic risk factors associated with a disease have typically focused on information collected from individuals in a fasting state only. However, it is equally important to assess how the body responds when stressed. Employing an acute high fat or carbohydrate intake is sufficient to induce a mild stress in which time an individual's unique post-prandial response can be monitored. This study will combine traditional markers (dietary, anthropometric, lifestyle, clinical and physical activity) with nutrigenomics, a tool that attempts to describe the genome-wide influences of nutrition by examining the impact of diet on genes (genomics), mRNA (transcriptomics), proteins (proteomics) and metabolites (metabolomics)."}, 'eligibilityModule': {'sex': 'ALL', 'stdAges': ['ADULT'], 'maximumAge': '60 Years', 'minimumAge': '18 Years', 'healthyVolunteers': True, 'eligibilityCriteria': 'Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Aged 18 to 60 years\n* Not taking medication (other than contraceptive pill/HRT)\n* Irish resident and living in Dublin area\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Known chronic/infectious disease\n* Pregnancy/lactation\n* Desire to conceive or lose weight during study\n* Athlete'}, 'identificationModule': {'nctId': 'NCT01172951', 'acronym': 'MECHE', 'briefTitle': "Nutrigenomics Investigation of the Body's Metabolic Response to 2 Different Meal Challenges", 'organization': {'class': 'OTHER', 'fullName': 'University College Dublin'}, 'officialTitle': "A Nutrigenomics Study of Post-prandial Metabolic Responses in Individuals of Varying Body Weight: An Assessment of the Body's Response to Meals Containing Different Levels of Fat and Carbohydrate", 'orgStudyIdInfo': {'id': 'LS-08-43-GR'}, 'secondaryIdInfos': [{'id': 'DAF- HRB (Ireland)', 'type': 'OTHER_GRANT', 'domain': '07FHRIUCD1'}]}, 'armsInterventionsModule': {'armGroups': [{'type': 'ACTIVE_COMPARATOR', 'label': 'OGTT-OGTT-Physical tests', 'description': '2 successive Oral Glucose Tolerance Tests followed by a physical tests session', 'interventionNames': ['Other: Oral glucose tolerance test']}, {'type': 'ACTIVE_COMPARATOR', 'label': 'OLTT-OLTT-Physical tests', 'description': '2 successive Oral Lipid Tolerance Tests followed by a physical test session', 'interventionNames': ['Other: Oral lipid tolerance test']}, {'type': 'ACTIVE_COMPARATOR', 'label': 'OGTT-OLTT-Physical tests', 'description': 'Oral glucose tolerance test followed by an oral lipid tolerance test (or vice-versa) followed by a physical tests session', 'interventionNames': ['Other: Oral glucose tolerance test', 'Other: Oral lipid tolerance test']}], 'interventions': [{'name': 'Oral glucose tolerance test', 'type': 'OTHER', 'description': '75g anhydrous glucose powder mixed with 100mls water', 'armGroupLabels': ['OGTT-OGTT-Physical tests', 'OGTT-OLTT-Physical tests']}, {'name': 'Oral lipid tolerance test', 'type': 'OTHER', 'description': '150ml drink composed of 2 commercially available high fat products', 'armGroupLabels': ['OGTT-OLTT-Physical tests', 'OLTT-OLTT-Physical tests']}]}, 'contactsLocationsModule': {'locations': [{'zip': '4', 'city': 'Dublin', 'country': 'Ireland', 'facility': 'Institute for Sport and Health, University College Dublin', 'geoPoint': {'lat': 53.33306, 'lon': -6.24889}}, {'zip': '4', 'city': 'Dublin', 'country': 'Ireland', 'facility': "St Vincent's University Hospital", 'geoPoint': {'lat': 53.33306, 'lon': -6.24889}}], 'overallOfficials': [{'name': 'Michael J Gibney, PhD', 'role': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR', 'affiliation': 'University College Dublin'}, {'name': "Donal O'Shea, MD", 'role': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR', 'affiliation': "St Vincent's University Hospital, Ireland"}, {'name': 'Helen Roche, PhD', 'role': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR', 'affiliation': 'University College Dublin'}, {'name': 'Lorraine Brennan, PhD', 'role': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR', 'affiliation': 'University College Dublin'}, {'name': 'Eileen Gibney, PhD', 'role': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR', 'affiliation': 'University College Dublin'}]}, 'sponsorCollaboratorsModule': {'leadSponsor': {'name': 'University College Dublin', 'class': 'OTHER'}, 'responsibleParty': {'oldNameTitle': 'Prof. Mike Gibney', 'oldOrganization': 'Institute of Food and Health, University College Dublin'}}}}
