Interruption of renal blood flow via pedicle clamping is often necessary during partial nephrectomy, especially for complex tumors with deep parenchymal invasion. Ischemia-reperfusion injury is a complex process involving several mechanisms including renal vasoconstriction, extensive tubular damage and glomerular injury.
