This will help to determine the association between alterations in sleep-regulating cytokines and HIV disease progression (CD4+ T-cell count, HIV-1 RNA level).\n\nNeurocognitive and neuropsychological tests will be performed on all participants to determine if there is an association between lack of normal sleeping habits, alterations in sleep-regulating cytokines and HIV-1 disease progression cytokines, and neurocognitive/neuropsychological performance.\n\nComputer analysis of electroencephalography (EEG) will be performed during wakefulness and all stages of sleep to determine if greater disease severity, sleepiness, sleep disruption, and neurocognitive impairment is associated with increased amounts of slow activity. Improvement in these related factors will be associated with normalizations of these parameters. For some of these quantitative measures, the findings may be more significant for particular brain regions; for example, frontal regions in the case of attention problems.'}, 'eligibilityModule': {'sex': 'ALL', 'stdAges': ['CHILD'], 'maximumAge': '17 Years', 'minimumAge': '8 Years', 'samplingMethod': 'PROBABILITY_SAMPLE', 'studyPopulation': 'HIV-infected children with and without asthma.', 'healthyVolunteers': True, 'eligibilityCriteria': 'Inclusion Criteria:\n\nHIV Group\n\n* HIV-1 infection\n\nControl Group\n\n* Family members and friends of HIV-1 infected children\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\nHIV Group\n\n* Pregnancy\n\nControl Group\n\n* Pregnancy\n* Asthma\n* Sleep apnea'}, 'identificationModule': {'nctId': 'NCT00253695', 'briefTitle': 'Sleep, HIV Disease Progression, and Function in HIV Infected Children and Adolescents', 'organization': {'class': 'OTHER', 'fullName': 'Baylor College of Medicine'}, 'officialTitle': 'Sleep Studies in HIV+ Older Children/Adolescents', 'orgStudyIdInfo': {'id': '1317'}, 'secondaryIdInfos': [{'id': 'R01HL079533', 'link': 'https://reporter.nih.gov/quickSearch/R01HL079533', 'type': 'NIH'}]}, 'armsInterventionsModule': {'interventions': [{'name': 'Wrist Actigraphy', 'type': 'DEVICE', 'description': "Wrist actigraph will record participants' sleeping patterns."}]}, 'contactsLocationsModule': {'locations': [{'zip': '77030', 'city': 'Houston', 'state': 'Texas', 'country': 'United States', 'facility': "Texas Children's Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine", 'geoPoint': {'lat': 29.76328, 'lon': -95.36327}}], 'overallOfficials': [{'name': 'William Shearer, MD, PhD', 'role': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR', 'affiliation': "Texas Children's Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine"}]}, 'sponsorCollaboratorsModule': {'leadSponsor': {'name': 'Baylor College of Medicine', 'class': 'OTHER'}, 'collaborators': [{'name': 'National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI)', 'class': 'NIH'}], 'responsibleParty': {'type': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR', 'investigatorTitle': 'Professor', 'investigatorFullName': 'William Shearer', 'investigatorAffiliation': 'Baylor College of Medicine'}}}}
