A bathing bundle regimen may reduce the risk of wound infection, extended length of hospital stay, readmission into the hospital, and the overall healthcare costs in patients undergoing surgery.', 'detailedDescription': 'PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:\n\nI. To investigate whether gynecology surgical patients using a Bathing Bundle using chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG) 4% skin prep solution (Intervention Group A) have a lower incidence of surgical site infection (SSI) than patients treated with the current standard of care (patient\'s choice of antibacterial soap). Standard of care results will be based on historical information gathered on Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) gynecology (GYN) patients prior to July 1, 2010 (Historical Control Group B).\n\nOUTLINE:\n\nPatients undergo preoperative preparation with the "Bathing Bundle" comprising CHG 4% skin prep solution and disposable wash cloths to bathe or shower with the night before and morning of surgery.\n\nAfter completion of study treatment, patients are followed up for 2 years.'}, 'eligibilityModule': {'sex': 'FEMALE', 'stdAges': ['ADULT', 'OLDER_ADULT'], 'minimumAge': '19 Years', 'healthyVolunteers': False, 'eligibilityCriteria': 'Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* GYN surgical patients scheduled for abdominal surgery\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Patients with known hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine\n* GYN non-surgical patients or surgical patients that will not have an abdominal incision (i.e. vaginal procedures)'}, 'identificationModule': {'nctId': 'NCT01597804', 'briefTitle': 'Bathing Bundle Regimen in Reducing Gynecological Surgical Site Infection in Patients Undergoing Surgery', 'organization': {'class': 'OTHER', 'fullName': 'Roswell Park Cancer Institute'}, 'officialTitle': 'A "Bathing Bundle" Regimen to Reduce the Risk of Gynecological Surgical Site Infection', 'orgStudyIdInfo': {'id': 'I 189910'}, 'secondaryIdInfos': [{'id': 'NCI-2012-00273', 'type': 'REGISTRY', 'domain': 'CTRP (Clinical Trial Reporting Program)'}, {'id': 'I 189910', 'type': 'OTHER', 'domain': 'Roswell Park Cancer Institute'}]}, 'armsInterventionsModule': {'armGroups': [{'type': 'EXPERIMENTAL', 'label': 'Supportive care ("Bathing Bundle")', 'description': 'Patients undergo preoperative preparation with the "Bathing Bundle" comprising CHG 4% skin prep solution and disposable wash cloths to bathe or shower with the night before and morning of surgery.', 'interventionNames': ['Procedure: Infection Prophylaxis and Management']}], 'interventions': [{'name': 'Infection Prophylaxis and Management', 'type': 'PROCEDURE', 'otherNames': ['Infectious Diseases / Treatment, General', 'infectious diseases treatment', 'management, infection prophylaxis', 'Treatment of Infectious Disease'], 'description': 'Undergo preoperative preparation with the "Bathing Bundle"', 'armGroupLabels': ['Supportive care ("Bathing Bundle")']}]}, 'contactsLocationsModule': {'locations': [{'zip': '14263', 'city': 'Buffalo', 'state': 'New York', 'country': 'United States', 'facility': 'Roswell Park Cancer Institute', 'geoPoint': {'lat': 42.88645, 'lon': -78.87837}}], 'overallOfficials': [{'name': 'Barbra Dodds', 'role': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR', 'affiliation': 'Roswell Park Cancer Institute'}]}, 'sponsorCollaboratorsModule': {'leadSponsor': {'name': 'Roswell Park Cancer Institute', 'class': 'OTHER'}, 'responsibleParty': {'type': 'SPONSOR'}}}}
