Serum samples and tumor tissue are analyzed by immunohistochemistry and western blot. Tumor markers (such as PKA expression) are determined and marker levels are measured in serum samples and tissues.\n\nPROJECTED ACCRUAL: Approximately 30 patients will be accrued for this study.'}, 'eligibilityModule': {'sex': 'ALL', 'stdAges': ['ADULT', 'OLDER_ADULT'], 'minimumAge': '18 Years', 'samplingMethod': 'NON_PROBABILITY_SAMPLE', 'studyPopulation': 'patients with colorectal cancer', 'healthyVolunteers': False, 'eligibilityCriteria': 'DISEASE CHARACTERISTICS:\n\n* Diagnosis of colon cancer\n\n * Metastatic disease for which surgical resection is indicated\n * Metastatic disease accessible for tissue biopsy OR previously biopsied tissue is available\n\nPATIENT CHARACTERISTICS:\n\n* Platelet count ≥ 80,000/mm\\^3\n* INR ≤ 1.3\n* PTT ≤ upper limit of normal\n* No history of bleeding disorders or abnormal clotting factors\n* No extrahepatic biliary obstruction\n\nPRIOR CONCURRENT THERAPY:\n\n* See Disease Characteristics'}, 'identificationModule': {'nctId': 'NCT01012804', 'briefTitle': 'Study of Biomarkers in Tissue Samples From Patients With Metastatic Colon Cancer', 'organization': {'class': 'OTHER', 'fullName': 'Georgetown University'}, 'officialTitle': 'Assessment of Variation of PKA and Other Molecular Markers in Patients Undergoing Resection of Colon Cancer Metastases', 'orgStudyIdInfo': {'id': 'CDR0000078662'}, 'secondaryIdInfos': [{'id': 'P30CA051008', 'link': 'https://reporter.nih.gov/quickSearch/P30CA051008', 'type': 'NIH'}, {'id': 'GUMC-00074'}, {'id': 'NCI-G01-1992'}]}, 'armsInterventionsModule': {'interventions': [{'name': 'western blotting', 'type': 'GENETIC'}, {'name': 'immunohistochemistry staining method', 'type': 'OTHER'}, {'name': 'laboratory biomarker analysis', 'type': 'OTHER'}]}, 'contactsLocationsModule': {'locations': [{'zip': '20007', 'city': 'Washington D.C.', 'state': 'District of Columbia', 'country': 'United States', 'facility': 'Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University Medical Center', 'geoPoint': {'lat': 38.89511, 'lon': -77.03637}}], 'overallOfficials': [{'name': 'John L.
