This study compared the feasibility and safety of mediastinoscopic-assisted transhiatal laparoscopic esophagectomy (MATLE) with video-assisted thoracoscopic esophagectomy (VATE).\n\nThirty-five eligible patients with ESCC were assigned to the MATLE group, while seventy matched patients were assigned to the VATE group.
