This study will compare two ways to strengthen the staple line during weight-loss sleeve surgery. One way uses a medical glue called cyanoacrylate, and the other uses a piece of tissue from the abdomen called omentum. The goal is to see which method works better to lower the chance of bleeding, pain, or leaks after surgery.\n\nWho can take part?\n\nAdults ages 18-65 who:\n\n* Have a body mass index (BMI) over 35, or over 30 if they also have health problems related to obesity.\n* Are scheduled to have weight-loss sleeve surgery at Cairo University Hospital.\n\nParticipants cannot take part if they:\n\n* Are younger than 18 or older than 65.\n* Have had weight-loss surgery before.\n\nWhat will happen in the study?\n\n* Participants will be assigned by chance to one of two groups:\n\n 1. Glue group: The staple line will be sealed with medical glue.\n 2. Omentum group:The staple line will be covered and sewn with a piece of the body's own tissue.\n* Everyone will have the same type of surgery and be cared for in the same way afterward.\n* Participants will be monitored closely for one month after surgery to check for problems like bleeding, pain, or leaks.\n* Follow-up visits will happen within one week after surgery and again at one month.\n\nWhat are the possible risks? The risks are low and similar to those of regular weight-loss surgery. Some people may feel pain or anxiety after surgery. The study team will watch for any problems and treat them right away.\n\nWhy is this study being done? Weight-loss sleeve surgery is common, but sometimes the staple line can leak or bleed. Finding a better way to strengthen it may help people recover more safely and with less pain.\n\nHow long will the study last? The study will take about six months to complete, including surgery and follow-up.\n\nWho is running the study? The study is being done by doctors in the General Surgery Department at Cairo University's Faculty of Medicine."}, 'eligibilityModule': {'sex': 'ALL', 'stdAges': ['ADULT', 'OLDER_ADULT'], 'maximumAge': '65 Years', 'minimumAge': '18 Years', 'healthyVolunteers': False, 'eligibilityCriteria': "Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Cases underwent LSG with age ≥18 years old and ≤65 years old and BMI ≥35 or ≥30 with comorbid disease related to obesity.\n* Candidate for Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Cases underwent previous bariatric surgery.\n* Multiple Extensive previous surgeries.\n* Crohn's Disease.\n* Elderly patients with extensive comorbidities\n* Severe gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)\n* Severe Bleeding disorders\n* Psychiatric illness or cognitive impairment affecting consent or compliance"}, 'identificationModule': {'nctId': 'NCT07339020', 'briefTitle': 'Cyanoacrylate Versus Omentum for Staple-Line Reinforcement in Sleeve Gastrectomy', 'organization': {'class': 'OTHER', 'fullName': 'Cairo University'}, 'officialTitle': 'Cyanoacrylate Versus Omentum for Enforcement of the Staple Line in Sleeve Operation', 'orgStudyIdInfo': {'id': 'ms-199-2025'}}, 'armsInterventionsModule': {'armGroups': [{'type': 'EXPERIMENTAL', 'label': 'Group A: cyanoacrylate sealant (Glubran®)', 'description': 'Group A: the reinforcement of staple line was done by cyanoacrylate sealant (Glubran®) from the angle of His till the lower end using its applicator through the right working port', 'interventionNames': ['Device: Glubran® 2 surgical glue (n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate mixture) and its specific applicator.', 'Procedure: Staple Line Reinforcement during Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy']}, {'type': 'ACTIVE_COMPARATOR', 'label': 'Group B: Omentopexy', 'description': 'Group B: the reinforcement was done by suturing the greater omentum to the staple line using PDS 2/0 round.', 'interventionNames': ['Biological: Autologous Greater Omentum', 'Procedure: Staple Line Reinforcement during Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy']}], 'interventions': [{'name': 'Glubran® 2 surgical glue (n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate mixture) and its specific applicator.', 'type': 'DEVICE', 'description': 'A synthetic surgical adhesive applied to the staple line for reinforcement and hemostasis using its proprietary delivery applicator.', 'armGroupLabels': ['Group A: cyanoacrylate sealant (Glubran®)']}, {'name': 'Autologous Greater Omentum', 'type': 'BIOLOGICAL', 'description': "pedicled flap of the patient's own greater omentum sutured over the staple line for reinforcement using a PDS 2/0 round needle suture.", 'armGroupLabels': ['Group B: Omentopexy']}, {'name': 'Staple Line Reinforcement during Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy', 'type': 'PROCEDURE', 'description': 'Reinforcement of the gastric staple line during laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy.', 'armGroupLabels': ['Group A: cyanoacrylate sealant (Glubran®)', 'Group B: Omentopexy']}]}, 'contactsLocationsModule': {'locations': [{'zip': '11956', 'city': 'Cairo', 'state': 'Al-Manial Cairo', 'status': 'ACTIVE_NOT_RECRUITING', 'country': 'Egypt', 'facility': 'Faculty of Medicine Cairo University', 'geoPoint': {'lat': 30.06263, 'lon': 31.24967}}, {'zip': '11956', 'city': 'Cairo', 'state': 'Al-Manial Cairo', 'status': 'RECRUITING', 'country': 'Egypt', 'contacts': [{'name': 'Maher Abd Elmonim, Assistant professor', 'role': 'CONTACT', 'email': 'Ahmed.maher@kasralainy.edu.eg', 'phone': '+201031036313'}], 'facility': 'Faculty of Medicine Cairo University', 'geoPoint': {'lat': 30.06263, 'lon': 31.24967}}], 'centralContacts': [{'name': 'Ahmed Eid Aziz, Lecturer', 'role': 'CONTACT', 'email': 'Ahmed-eid@kasralainy.edu.eg', 'phone': '+201127060844'}]}, 'ipdSharingStatementModule': {'ipdSharing': 'NO'}, 'sponsorCollaboratorsModule': {'leadSponsor': {'name': 'Cairo University', 'class': 'OTHER'}, 'responsibleParty': {'type': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR', 'investigatorTitle': 'Lecturer', 'investigatorFullName': 'Ahmed Eid Ali Ahmed Aziz', 'investigatorAffiliation': 'Cairo University'}}}}
