Pain, emotional distress, reduced functional abilities are common conditions following limb loss and reduce quality of life. Self-management interventions have been found to be effective in reducing the secondary conditions associated with arthritis and diabetes. Self management uses the principles of cognitive-behavioral therapy including education, self monitoring, problem solving, and skill acquisition.\n\nThe goal of the project is to develop and test the efficacy of a community based self management intervention for reducing pain, depression, and improving self efficacy and function in persons with limb loss using a randomized controlled design.\n\n50 groups of 8-10 persons will be randomized to either a control group or a treatment group.'}, 'eligibilityModule': {'sex': 'ALL', 'stdAges': ['ADULT', 'OLDER_ADULT'], 'maximumAge': '75 Years', 'minimumAge': '18 Years', 'healthyVolunteers': False, 'eligibilityCriteria': 'Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* age 18 or older congenital or acquired limb loss\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n\\-'}, 'identificationModule': {'nctId': 'NCT00164502', 'briefTitle': 'Limb Loss Self-Management Program', 'organization': {'class': 'FED', 'fullName': 'Centers for Disease Control and Prevention'}, 'officialTitle': 'Limb Loss Self-Management Program: "Promoting Amputee Life Skills"', 'orgStudyIdInfo': {'id': 'CDC-NCBDDD-CCR322981'}}, 'armsInterventionsModule': {'interventions': [{'name': 'Community-based eight session group self-management program', 'type': 'BEHAVIORAL'}]}, 'contactsLocationsModule': {'locations': [{'zip': '98108', 'city': 'Seattle', 'state': 'Washington', 'country': 'United States', 'facility': 'Puget Sound Health Services', 'geoPoint': {'lat': 47.60621, 'lon': -122.33207}}], 'overallOfficials': [{'name': 'Ellen MacKenzie, Ph.D.', 'role': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR', 'affiliation': 'Johns Hopkins University'}]}, 'sponsorCollaboratorsModule': {'leadSponsor': {'name': 'Centers for Disease Control and Prevention', 'class': 'FED'}}}}
