In recent decades the safety of cataract surgery has greatly improved and it is considered one of the safestsurgeries to be performed. Postoperative management consists of routine examinations within one week, to ascertain no adverseevents have occurred immediately after surgery, and between 4-6 weeks, to determine the refractive error. The incidence of seriousadverse events following cataract surgery is estimated to be 1%. As a result, the majority of patient visits after cataract surgery willbe uneventful. Nonetheless valuable time and hospital resources are consumed. Remote monitoring could replace clinicalexaminations in selected patient groups. However, this practice of digital remote monitoring which the patient can use independentlyhas not been clinically validated yet.\n\nObjective of the study:\n\nTo determine non-inferiority of the corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA) with the prescription obtained through the web-basedmeasurement of refractive error, compared to usual care, in patients who underwent routine cataract surgery.\n\nStudy design:\n\nObservational randomized trial without interventions\n\nStudy population:\n\nPatients eligible for cataract surgery, without visual acuity influencing comorbidities or predisposing complicating factors.\n\nPrimary study parameters/outcome of the study:\n\ncosteffectiveness\n\nSecundary study parameters/outcome of the study (if applicable):\n\nCorrected distance visual acuity at the final post-operative visit, uncorrected distance visual acuity, refractive error(sphere/cylinder/axes), patient reported outcome measurements, adverse events.'}, 'eligibilityModule': {'sex': 'ALL', 'stdAges': ['ADULT', 'OLDER_ADULT'], 'minimumAge': '18 Years', 'healthyVolunteers': False, 'eligibilityCriteria': 'Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Planned for bilateral phacoemulsification cataract extraction and intra-ocular lens implantation (either sequentialor in one procedure)\n* ≥ 18 years of age\n* No other current ophthalmic conditions or history that negatively influence post-operative visual acuity\n* Be able to fill out the health questionnaires (in Dutch, German or English) and perform the web-based refractiveassessment (possibly with assistance of family member or other close relative).\n* Specific digital requirements include access to a computer and a smartphone and knowledge how to log in to anonline patient portal.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Cataract extraction surgery combined with other procedures, including: keratoplasty, vitrectomy, glaucoma filter implants\n* Ocular comorbidities that negatively influence post-operative visual acuity\n* No access to the digital requirements to take the online health questionnaire and/or perform the online refraction.\n* Insufficient command of the Dutch, German or English language to understand the questionnaires andinstructions of the web-based refractive assessment or no family member / close relative to assist with this\n* Inability of performing the web-based eye exam prior to cataract surgery.'}, 'identificationModule': {'nctId': 'NCT04809402', 'acronym': 'CORE-RCT', 'briefTitle': 'Cataract Online Refraction Evaluation: A Multi Center Randomized Controlled Trial', 'organization': {'class': 'OTHER', 'fullName': 'UMC Utrecht'}, 'officialTitle': 'Cataract Online Refraction Evaluation: A Multi Center Randomized Controlled Trial', 'orgStudyIdInfo': {'id': 'NL74625.041.20'}}, 'armsInterventionsModule': {'armGroups': [{'type': 'OTHER', 'label': 'Telemonitoring', 'description': 'Subjects in the telemonitoring group will have post-operative follow-up measurements involving teleconsultations, remote eye exams and health questionnaires.', 'interventionNames': ['Other: remote monitoring after cataract surgery']}, {'type': 'NO_INTERVENTION', 'label': 'Usual care', 'description': 'Subjects in the usual care group will receive regular post-operative care, mostly involving in-hospital consultations.'}], 'interventions': [{'name': 'remote monitoring after cataract surgery', 'type': 'OTHER', 'description': 'remote monitoring after cataract surgery', 'armGroupLabels': ['Telemonitoring']}]}, 'contactsLocationsModule': {'locations': [{'city': 'Vienna', 'country': 'Austria', 'facility': 'Vienna Institute for Research in Ocular Surgery, Austria', 'geoPoint': {'lat': 48.20849, 'lon': 16.37208}}, {'city': 'Sulzbach', 'country': 'Germany', 'facility': 'Augenklink Sulzbach', 'geoPoint': {'lat': 49.29882, 'lon': 7.05696}}, {'zip': '4818CK', 'city': 'Breda', 'state': 'North Brabant', 'country': 'Netherlands', 'facility': 'Amphia Ziekenhuis', 'geoPoint': {'lat': 51.58656, 'lon': 4.77596}}, {'zip': '1704 AG', 'city': 'Heerhugowaard', 'state': 'North Holland', 'country': 'Netherlands', 'facility': 'Oogcentrum Noordholland', 'geoPoint': {'lat': 52.67144, 'lon': 4.84862}}, {'city': 'Maastricht', 'country': 'Netherlands', 'facility': 'Maastricht UMC+', 'geoPoint': {'lat': 50.84833, 'lon': 5.68889}}, {'zip': '3508 GA', 'city': 'Utrecht', 'country': 'Netherlands', 'facility': 'Janneau Claessens', 'geoPoint': {'lat': 52.09083, 'lon': 5.12222}}]}, 'sponsorCollaboratorsModule': {'leadSponsor': {'name': 'UMC Utrecht', 'class': 'OTHER'}, 'collaborators': [{'name': 'Health Holland', 'class': 'OTHER'}], 'responsibleParty': {'type': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR', 'investigatorTitle': 'Principal Investigator', 'investigatorFullName': 'Robert P.L.
