Group 1 is enrolled during months 4-21 and group 2 during months 25-54.\n\n* Group 1 (usual care): Patient questionnaires are administered at baseline and at 3 and 6 months. The clinicians' satisfaction with care is also evaluated.\n* Group 2 (advanced practice nurse \\[APN\\] intervention): Patients are accrued by an APN. Patients meet with the APN periodically to assess their physical well-being including ambulatory care needed, care of physical symptoms (i.e., pain, fatigue, nausea and vomiting), and psychological well-being. Questionnaires are administered at baseline and at 3 and 6 months.\n\nIn both groups, questionnaires include the FACT-Hep, Memorial Symptom Assessment Scale, Psychological Distress Thermometer, Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment, and Patient Satisfaction with Intervention. Clinicians also complete questionnaires. Patients' medical charts are also reviewed."}, 'eligibilityModule': {'sex': 'ALL', 'stdAges': ['ADULT', 'OLDER_ADULT'], 'minimumAge': '18 Years', 'healthyVolunteers': False, 'eligibilityCriteria': 'DISEASE CHARACTERISTICS:\n\n* Diagnosis of pancreatic cancer (all stages)\n\nPATIENT CHARACTERISTICS:\n\n* Admitted to City of Hope National Medical Center\n\n * Resides within a 30-mile radius of the medical center\n* No prior cancer\n\nPRIOR CONCURRENT THERAPY:\n\n* No prior therapy'}, 'identificationModule': {'nctId': 'NCT00902733', 'briefTitle': 'Nurse-Provided Care or Standard Care in Treating Patients With Pancreatic Cancer', 'organization': {'class': 'OTHER', 'fullName': 'City of Hope Medical Center'}, 'officialTitle': 'A Standardized Nursing Intervention Protocol for Pancreatic Cancer as a Chronic Illness', 'orgStudyIdInfo': {'id': '08033'}, 'secondaryIdInfos': [{'id': 'P30CA033572', 'link': 'https://reporter.nih.gov/quickSearch/P30CA033572', 'type': 'NIH'}, {'id': 'CHNMC-08033'}, {'id': 'CDR0000629414', 'type': 'REGISTRY', 'domain': 'NCI PDQ'}]}, 'armsInterventionsModule': {'interventions': [{'name': 'medical chart review', 'type': 'OTHER'}, {'name': 'questionnaire administration', 'type': 'OTHER'}, {'name': 'fatigue assessment and management', 'type': 'PROCEDURE'}, {'name': 'psychosocial assessment and care', 'type': 'PROCEDURE'}, {'name': 'quality-of-life assessment', 'type': 'PROCEDURE'}]}, 'contactsLocationsModule': {'locations': [{'zip': '91010-3000', 'city': 'Duarte', 'state': 'California', 'country': 'United States', 'facility': 'City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center', 'geoPoint': {'lat': 34.13945, 'lon': -117.97729}}], 'overallOfficials': [{'name': 'Marcia Grant, RN, DNSc, FAAN', 'role': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR', 'affiliation': 'City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center'}]}, 'sponsorCollaboratorsModule': {'leadSponsor': {'name': 'City of Hope Medical Center', 'class': 'OTHER'}, 'collaborators': [{'name': 'National Cancer Institute (NCI)', 'class': 'NIH'}], 'responsibleParty': {'oldNameTitle': 'Marcia Grant', 'oldOrganization': 'City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center'}}}}
