There will be 1:1 randomisation to either the cryotherapy protocol or RF protocol. Arrhythmia patients already under the care of this cardiac centre, who have already opted for catheter ablation treatment will be approached to ask if they will also be willing to participate in this longterm research program.\n\nThe protocols for each different arrhythmia are in line with current practice and knowledge and utilising current technology. In the program, the investigators have 1 or 2 protocols that mildly differ from conventional use but have already passed through initial experience with publication on this- this is the multi-catheter cryocatheter approach.\n\nAcute procedural outcomes, short, medium and longterm success will be recorded for each patient, in addition to patient or participant experience and quality of life outcomes.\n\nThe catheter ablation research program has passed through ethical panel review in London and has the potential to become a multi-centre study.'}, 'eligibilityModule': {'sex': 'ALL', 'stdAges': ['ADULT', 'OLDER_ADULT'], 'maximumAge': '88 Years', 'minimumAge': '18 Years', 'healthyVolunteers': False, 'eligibilityCriteria': "Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Adult patients under the care of the Arrhythmia Service at St. George's Hospital with one of the studied arrhythmia (PAF, persistent AF etc), awaiting catheter ablation treatment will be eligible for inclusion to the program of research\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Vulnerable patients will be excluded- e.g. active cancer, inability to consent\n* Paediatric patients will not be studied\n* Patients awaiting standard SVT catheter ablation treatment"}, 'identificationModule': {'nctId': 'NCT03816033', 'briefTitle': 'Cryotherapy Versus Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation Research Program', 'organization': {'class': 'OTHER', 'fullName': "St. George's Hospital, London"}, 'officialTitle': 'Multi-catheter Cryotherapy Versus Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation for the Treatment of Standard and Resistant Arrhythmias', 'orgStudyIdInfo': {'id': 'IRAS236684'}}, 'armsInterventionsModule': {'armGroups': [{'type': 'ACTIVE_COMPARATOR', 'label': 'Cryotherapy', 'description': 'Cryotherapy ablation energy will be utilised in the catheter ablation procedure', 'interventionNames': ['Procedure: Cryotherapy']}, {'type': 'ACTIVE_COMPARATOR', 'label': 'Radiofrequency', 'description': 'Radiofrequency ablation energy will be utilised in the catheter ablation procedure', 'interventionNames': ['Procedure: radiofrequency catheter ablation']}], 'interventions': [{'name': 'Cryotherapy', 'type': 'PROCEDURE', 'description': 'Catheter ablation treatment for the treatment of the studied arrhythmias', 'armGroupLabels': ['Cryotherapy']}, {'name': 'radiofrequency catheter ablation', 'type': 'PROCEDURE', 'description': 'Catheter ablation treatment for the treatment of the studied arrhythmias', 'armGroupLabels': ['Radiofrequency']}]}, 'contactsLocationsModule': {'locations': [{'zip': 'SW170QT', 'city': 'London', 'status': 'RECRUITING', 'country': 'United Kingdom', 'contacts': [{'name': 'Anu Taiwo, Bsc', 'role': 'CONTACT', 'email': 'mtaiwo@sgul.ac.uk', 'phone': '0208 725 6606', 'phoneExt': '6606'}, {'name': 'Mark M Gallagher, MD', 'role': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR'}, {'name': 'Lisa WM Leung, MBChB', 'role': 'PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR'}, {'name': 'Manav Sohal, MD', 'role': 'SUB_INVESTIGATOR'}, {'name': 'Zia Zuberi, PHD', 'role': 'SUB_INVESTIGATOR'}, {'name': 'Abhay Bajpai, MD', 'role': 'SUB_INVESTIGATOR'}, {'name': 'Anthony Li, MD', 'role': 'SUB_INVESTIGATOR'}, {'name': 'Mark Norman, MD', 'role': 'SUB_INVESTIGATOR'}], 'facility': "St.George's Hospital", 'geoPoint': {'lat': 51.50853, 'lon': -0.12574}}], 'centralContacts': [{'name': 'Anu Taiwo, Bsc', 'role': 'CONTACT', 'email': 'mtaiwo@sgul.ac.uk', 'phone': '+4420287256606'}, {'name': 'Lisa Leung, MBChB (Hons), MRCP (UK)', 'role': 'CONTACT', 'email': 'lleung@sgul.ac.uk', 'phone': '07952738053'}]}, 'ipdSharingStatementModule': {'ipdSharing': 'NO', 'description': 'The research data will be kep in a closed system within our NHS centre to the direct care team and researchers.
