* Age 65 years or older
* diagnosis of hip fracture
* scheduled for surgical intervention within 48 hours
* Informed consent obtained.
Exclusion Criteria:
* Allergy to local anesthetics,
* Contraindications to the PENG block
* inability to provide informed consent.
