* Clinical diagnosis of classical (typical) Childhood Absence Epilepsy
* Good seizure control
* Must be able to give saliva sample
Exclusion Criteria:
* History of non-febrile seizures prior to the onset of typical absence seizures
* other neuropsychiatric or developmental disorders.
