* patient treated on ICU of Department of Anesthesiology of LMU Munich
* treated with ECMO
* age \>/= 18 years (adult patients only)
* informed consent
Exclusion Criteria:
* underage patients
* pregnant patients
* hemoglobin level \< 8mg/dl
