Inclusion Criteria:
* adult patients
* complaining of carpal tunnel syndrome of 3 month duration or more
* diagnosed axonal neuropathy using electrodiagnosis , nerve conduction study
Exclusion Criteria:
* patient refusal
* infection at the site of intervention
* local anesthetic allergy
