* Single ventricle congenital cardiac malformation
* Must undergo modified Fontan procedure
* No concurrent medications known to interfere with thyroid metabolism including propranolol and amiodarone
* No hepatic dysfunction
* No renal dysfunction
* No pre-existing thyroid dysfunction
