Eligibility Criteria:
Inclusion Criteria:
* healthy pregnant women over 18 years of age
* a minimum of 36 weeks' gestation
* patients that underwent mediolateral episiotomy during vaginal delivery
Exclusion Criteria:
* any illness diagnosed during pregnancy
* unwillingness to submit to acupuncture therapy
