* diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis according to revised El Escorial criteria
* minimum of 18 years
* minimum of 6 months of residency in Rhinelnad-Palatinate
Exclusion Criteria:
* patients below 18 years
* ALS patients outside Rhineland-Palatinate
