* ICU patient equipped with an arterial line
* NIV treatment prescribed by the clinician in charge
* Hypercapnia defined by PaCO2\> 42mmHg
Exclusion Criteria:
* Severe hemodynamic instability
* Severe psychiatric disorders
* Denied consent
* Age \< 18 years
