Inclusion Criteria:
* morbidly obese patients with BMI \> 30
* confirmed obstructive sleep apnea with RDI \> 10/hr
* able to sign consent
Exclusion Criteria:
* patients undergoing weight reduction surgery
* sleep apnea other than obstructive sleep apnea
* untreated endocrine disorder
* patient refusal
