Inclusion Criteria:
* ASA 1 -3, patients scheduled for TURP( transurethral resection of prostate) were included
Exclusion Criteria:
* Patients with any contraindication to epidural anesthesia were excluded.
* cognitive impairment
* coagulopathy
* allergy to lidocaine
* infection at the puncture site
