* Patients newly admitted to ICU with sepsis or septic shock;
* Patients were free of exclusion criteria.
Exclusion Criteria:
* Patients with acute kidney injury;
* Patients with hemorrhagic shock;
* Patients with immunosuppressive or autoimmune disorders;
* Patients suspected to die in ICU.
