* patients scheduled for elective Coronary artery bypass grafting surgery
Exclusion Criteria:
* Emergency or Redo surgery.
* Baseline rhythm other than sinus rhythm
* Any degree of heart block, bundle branch block or hemiblock
* Known allergy to lidocaine.
* Chronic kidney disease.
* Hepatic impairment.
* Severe psychiatric illness.
