Eligibility Criteria:
Inclusion Criteria:
* successful closure of a macular hole after initial vitreoretinal surgery
* a follow-up of at least one year
Exclusion Criteria:
* post-traumatic holes,
* myopic macular holes,
* macular holes associated with a rhegmatogenous retinal detachment,
* eyes with silicone oil tamponade.
