* first time major depression
* age over 50 years
* Caucasian
* admitted at a psychiatric hospital or treated at a local psychiatric clinic in Aarhus Amt
Exclusion Criteria:
* major brain damage (e.g. stroke, epilepsy, trauma)
* major alcohol or drug abuse
