* ASA classification I-II, scheduled for elective surgery requiring general anesthesia
* signed informed consent
Exclusion Criteria:
* BMI \> 35
* co-existing respiratory disease (COPD, asthma )
* patient refusal
* pregnancy
* deformities of the thorax
