* Patients referred for planned first-time heart surgery:
* Coronary artery by-pass surgery (CABG)
* Valve surgery
* Combined CABG and valve surgery
Exclusion Criteria:
* Endocarditis
* No possible follow-up
* Planned closure of the left atrium appendage as part of surgery
