Eligibility Criteria:
Inclusion Criteria:
* age less than 18 years
* PICU admitting diagnosis of sepsis, respiratory failure, or hepatic failure.
Exclusion Criteria:
* hyponatremia or hypernatremia at PICU admission
* preexisting diagnosis of End-stage renal disease or renal transplant
* presence of neurologic comorbidities.
