* patients underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy
Exclusion Criteria:
* age younger than 18 years
* ongoing infection
* gastrointestinal obstruction
* respiratory dysfunction
* cardiac dysfunction
* hepatic dysfunction
* renal failure
* history of recent immunosuppressive or immunological diseases
* preoperative evidence of widespread metastatic disease
