* patients with major psychiatric disorders admitted to psychiatric unit of neuropsychiatry department of Assiut university hospital in Egypt.
Exclusion Criteria:
* pregnant or lactating females
* Patients on estrogen therapy or contraceptive
* Patients on carbamazepine, oxcarbazepine, phenytoin
