* at least 18 years old
* Receiving a nasogastric tube by a registered nurse at Fletcher Allen Health Care
Exclusion Criteria:
* less than 18 years old
* weight \< 40 kg
* Need immediate nasogastric tube placement
* Endotracheal intubation
* Hemodynamically unstable
* Non-English speaking
* Without capacity to provide informed consent
