Population Description:
Patients were enrolled irrespective of GERD symptoms according to the following criteria:
1. age between 18 and 70 years,
2. BMI ≥ 40 kg/m2 or ≥ 35 kg/m2 combined with significant comorbidities,
3. absence of gastroesophageal surgery, and
4. consent to undergo open GBP
